All staff are trained in First Aid and C.P.R, and all must have a current criminal reference check. The staff of the centre has over 30 years’ combined work experience with children. Program Information
Tender Years is licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to care for 10 infants (birth to 18 months), 30 toddlers (18 months to 2.5 years), 32 preschoolers (2.5 years to 4 years), 20 junior kindergartens (4 years old), and a mixed classroom of 24 children from age five to 12!
The focus in the infant program is motor skills, both gross and fine motor. Teachers work with the children constantly helping them with eye-hand co-ordination, crawling, walking, building and self feeding.
The focus in our toddler rooms is a continuation of the infant room, with an added focus on language skills, while the focus in the preschool rooms is to prepare for kindergarten. The teachers continue to focus on language, math, science, printing, and reading. The kindergarten program is called an enrichment program. It is run just like a regular kindergarten classroom, except it is a smaller group allowing for more one on one time with the teachers. Progress reports are sent home three times per year, and they also conduct parent teacher interviews.
The before and after school program is for children aged six to 12 years old. This program is based on the children’s current interests. This means that they may change their focus daily, sometimes weekly. One day may be sports and the next it may be music. The teachers use the children’s interests to plan activities.
Tender Years has also launched a brand new website! You are encouraged to visit their new site to learn more about them. See pictures of the centre, the menu, read about the team, and the programs they offer!
