When I get older....
What a great weekend! Full of Kodak moments. I took four kids to see How to Train a Dragon and it turned out to be a wonderful night. Sure the movie was terrific for the kids, one of the best — full of action and good messages — but the best part was the drive to the theatre.
I'm driving a minivan — not my vehicle of choice but it carries four kids comfortably and safely. So once I get the seat adjusted for my short legs, I turn the key in the ignition and the radio tunes into K'naan's Waving Flag, the remake featuring Young Artists for Haiti. Each child chimed in: "When I get older, I will be stronger, just like a waving flag..." There they were, singing along, a little off-key, some murmuring and humming but cute nonetheless. It was the sweetest thing to look in the rear view mirror and see three boys aged 5 to 7 and one girl aged 5 singing their hearts out.
That song always brings a smile to my face and it always makes them sing along. My children will stop what they are doing to watch the video. I love that the children were all touched by this song through a school assembly. And I am inspired by the fact that every time they sing it, it inspires them to be more, do more and help others. I thank the school for leaving this imprint on our children.
Very sweet, just wanted to share it!
Here is the video if you want some inpiration....The video features more than 50 young Canadian artists such as Avril Lavigne, Drake, Nelly Furtado, Nikki Yanofsky, Jacob Hoggard and Justin Bieber and it always makes me teary eyed. The song has a compelling message and makes me appreciate everything in my life. I hope it does the same for you.
