Scholar Montessori

A holistic approach to learning
Scholar Montessori Academy , now serving the Pickering and surrounding communities was created to offer a holistic, developmentally sound approach to early education, solidly based on Montessori principles and methods.
Through their daily focus on the three basic principles of Montessori philosophy - observation, individual liberty and preparation of the environment - they seek to fulfill their primary and abiding commitment to "follow the child".
"The children, staff and principal all work together as a team to reach their first priority which is nurturing and providing a quality education for the children," says Ilyas Rafi, Principal. "They want to help the children by providing them with the proper education and social skills in order for them to become good citizens in their community."
As an authentic Montessori school which has been serving the G.T.A community in Woodbridge, Brampton and know Pickering, since the past 9 years, Scholar Montessori has been committed in providing the very best in education and life long skills for its students.
The school is situated on a Altona road surrounded by the Peticoat Creak conservation area. Classrooms are equipped with the wide range of materials designed by Dr. Maria Montessori .In keeping with the classic tradition of Montessori practices, all Casa classrooms have a low child to teacher ratio; maximum classroom size is 16 students with two Montessori teachers.
Through this, a successful Montessori environment depends greatly on children having focused periods of time in which to complete tasks and activities.
Students explore and learn concepts in arithmetic, sensorial, practical life, language, geography and culture. French and music lessons are also taught daily.
With guidance from a highly dedicated and skilled group of Montessori teachers and administrators, Scholar Montessori creates an educational program of the highest quality possible.
Scholar Montessori offers two educational programs for children, including; Toddler (16 month to 2.5 years) and traditional Casa program (2.5 years to 6 years)
