Durham Forest comes alive
Autumn’s first flush had flamed the treetops when we hiked Durham Forest a couple of weeks ago. Imagine what a show we’ll see by mid-October, I told my daughter.

On a Sunday far too balmy for late October, my daughter and I bundled our bikes into the van and headed for the Whitby Waterfront Trail at the foot of Brock Street. Our hike today has us waiting for spring and longing for summer. We can just imagine the blue-green winter waves dressed in summer’s sapphire blue. The vista from the Ajax Waterfront Trail makes it easy. We walk the asphalt trail that wends along the bluff high above the shoreline.
