Shoal Point Montessori

Introducing Shoal Point Montessori
Welcome to Shoal Point Montessori, a new and exciting place where children experience education across the emotional, social and academic realms.
The teachers at Shoal Point Montessori believe that learning should be fun!
“The secret of good teaching is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown, to grow under the heat of a flaming imagination.”
At Shoal Point Montessori they believe that children develop inner discipline, confidence and independence when they are permitted the freedom to accomplish their goals, aiming for children to possess self-motivation, initiative, self-respect and courtesy to others.
Maria Montessori saw that children did not in fact need to be ‘taught,’ but that learning was a natural process. What we often call play is a young child’s work, something that is giving them a sense of excitement, meaning and purpose to their lives.
At Shoal Point Montessori they recognise that there is a world of difference between being taught and eagerly wanting to learn, which is why they offer children the opportunity for ‘self-development.’
They ensure each child is nurtured and challenged as an individual. In their early years, children soak up information; this is what Maria Montessori called the ‘Absorbent Mind.’ They do so most effectively if they are given the freedom to follow their own desires to explore the environment.
Shoal Point Montessori classrooms are full of fascinating materials and activities that children will be drawn to, encouraging their ‘hunger to learn.’
They will explore interesting subjects such as Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Maths, Botany, Zoology, Geography, History and French.
The children are given the opportunity to cook, following pictorial recipes, using a child sized functional kitchen and gardening in the spring and summer months, planting vegetables, fruits and flowers, so parents be prepared to do some extra laundry!
The main principle of Shoal Point Montessori is love and respect for children. Shoal Point Montessori offers Full and Half Day Casa Programs for ages 2 _ to 6 years. There are limited spaces, so please register your child as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
If this is the kind of education you want for your child, they invite you to attend the Open house on August 26th and 27th.
Shoal Point Montessori opens October 2008, located off Shoal Point Road, south of Bayly Street.
